The purpose of the Golden Cross Foundation is to fund the expansion of older adult ministries and services in the Tennessee Conference. The foundation is a non-profit corporation governed by a board of directors with representatives from all five districts of the Tennessee Conference. As an extension ministry of the Tennessee Conference, the foundation’s purpose is: 1) to provide assistance in funding new and ongoing ministries by, with, and for older adults; and, 2) to provide expertise and strategic planning to churches the Tennessee Conference for expanding innovative and intentional older adult ministries.

The foundation provides grant funding and strategic direction. It does not minister directly to older adults or provide programs. The foundation works in partnership with and provides funds for ENCORE Ministry.

The foundation’s charter, by-laws, and election of board members is approved by the Tennessee Annual Conference. Although the foundation is an extension ministry, it is self-funded with no apportionment to local congregations. The foundation receives financial support from individuals, grants, and groups interested in serving the needs of older adults.

The foundation provides financial grants within the Tennessee Conference to United Methodist congregations, districts, and the conference to meet the needs and challenges of older adults. With few exceptions, foundation grants are matching grants so that more ministries can be funded.

The foundation’s executive director is Kent McNish. If you and your church would like to apply for a Golden Cross Foundation grant, please visit the website at www.goldencrossfoundation.org to download an application or contact:
