The Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD) is the designated state agency on aging and is mandated to provide leadership relative to aging issues on behalf of older persons in the state. During the COVID-19 pandemic, TCAD is providing the following programs and services:

  • Options for Community Living: In-home care, meals, homemaker and personal care services
  • Public Guardianship: Court-appointment guardian for financial and medical decisions
  • Ombudsman: Advocates for persons in nursing homes and other long-term institutions
  • Nutrition Services: Nutritious meals at community locations or home-delivered
  • Caregiver Support: Helping families provide better care to their loved ones
  • TN SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program): Counseling and assistance with Medicare
  • Senior Centers: Community centers that provide resources, support groups, and activities to seniors and their families
  • Elder Abuse Prevention: Outreach and education about fraud, scams, and domestic violence affecting seniors
